QLD State News

The Palaszczuk Labor Government only got back to work two months ago, but it’s wasted no time finding new ways to take money off Queensland small and family businesses.

I know local businesses are doing it tough enough without paying more to the Treasury.

Annastacia Palaszczuk is introducing a Queensland-wide ‘waste tax’ to deal with the problem of NSW companies dumping their waste north of the border.

Nobody wants waste from NSW being dumped in Ipswich, but taxing the whole of the state is not the solution.

Deb Frecklington and the LNP have opposed the approvals of any more ‘superdumps’. Other south-east Queensland councils like Brisbane and the Gold Coast have dealt with this problem without slugging local businesses.

A new ‘waste tax’ will mean disposing of commercial or industrial waste will cost more, from cafes disposing of oil and grease traps to the cost of servicing vehicles – tyres and batteries will be taxed too.

The waste levy will push up rates, increase the cost of homes and put extra pressure on small businesses for disposing of day-to-day waste.

The waste levy is a tax-grab and I will fight it every step of the way.

Save our Sparkies

The Palaszczuk Labor Government are putting our mum and dad sparkies jobs on the line with their plans to create a new government-owned business to compete against local sparkies. This is a plan that would cost thousands of Queenslanders their jobs as they attempt to compete with Labor’s proposed monolith.
