LNP Child safety plan

Sept 10th, 2020

Child safety and protection in Queensland faces many challenges. Following a commitment to bi-partisan cooperation with regard to tackling the huge issues facing child protection in Queensland, the LNP announced a plan to overhaul the child safety sector should we be successful in the 2020 election.

Through June and July 2020 PeakCare Queensland Inc conducted a survey of sector stakeholders and interested groups to contribute their thoughts on the LNP plan. The responses have now been collated and presented in an overview, which can be found at https://peakcare.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Survey-overview-report-240820.pdf

Pats’ recent interview with ABC re the death and mistreatment of horses at Charlton

July 8th, 2020

The Department clearly offers "A briefing on the matter for Mr Weir can be provided upon request."

On Tuesday July 7th I had already requested an update on the investigation and possible charges, and the welfare of the remaining horses. A response from Minister Furner on July 14th states "As this matter is currently under investigation it is not appropriate for me to comment further". So - which is it? I would definitely welcome that briefing at the earliest opportunity!

New Hope has called on the State Government to pass Acland Stage 3

Apr 22nd, 2020

Looking for Job-ready Projects, I called on the Premier during the last sitting of Parliament to approve this project. The State Government has the power with this Job-ready Project able to assist with the present COVID-19 crisis, creating 487 direct jobs. The State Government used its appropriate power to approve Adani while still subject to court action - time to do the same for Acland Stage 3!

Available support to community groups and not-for-profits during COVID-19

April 17th, 2020

During this difficult time of change and hardship, I am thinking about all the community groups and not-for-profit, volunteer run organisations who are being financially impacted by closure.

These small organisations are vitally important to country communities. If your local, volunteer run entity still has to meet rental or lease obligations, maintenance costs for grounds and so on please refer to the following link to the Queensland Government website https://www.business.qld.gov.au/ which outlines the relief available for small business and commercial tenancies. In addition the Queensland State Hotline 1300 654687 and Federal Support Hotline 132846 are available to answer your queries.

Of course, please contact my office directly on 4570 4100 if you require assistance and my team will try to get the information you need.
